Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

When you create an account, we collect: your email address, chosen display name and @username, a hashed password, and the timestamp when you accepted our Terms of Service.

When you use the service, we collect: the posts, comments, and messages you create; the accounts you follow and communities you join; basic engagement telemetry (logins, post counts, reaction counts) for our gamification system; and HTTP metadata (IP address, user agent) for abuse prevention and rate limiting.

We do NOT collect: your contacts list, browsing history outside IKSocial, precise location, or biometric data.

2. How we use your data

We use your data to operate IKSocial — delivering posts to the right people, authenticating your sessions, preventing abuse, calculating IKCr rewards and badges, and presenting you with the feed and discovery features described in the service.

We do not sell your personal data to advertisers or third parties.

3. Where your data lives

User records, posts, and engagement data are stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted by Neon (neon.tech). Application code runs on Vercel (vercel.com) in the iad1 region. Media uploads (avatars, post images) are stored in Cloudflare R2 at media.iksocial.com.

Ecosystem-wide services (email, payments, cross-service SSO) are operated by IKCore, the shared service layer of the IKEcosystem. Data shared with IKCore is governed by the IKEcosystem Privacy Policy.

4. Your rights

You can view and edit most of your data directly from Settings. You can delete your account at any time (coming soon; for now, contact privacy@iksectors.com).

If you are in the EU, UK, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR, UK-GDPR, and CCPA respectively — including the right to request a copy of your data, request correction or deletion, and object to certain processing.

5. Cookies and local storage

We use an HTTP-only session cookie (set by NextAuth) to keep you logged in. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

We use browser sessionStorage to remember small UI states (e.g. whether you've dismissed the verify-email banner for the current session).

6. Children

IKSocial is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe we have, email privacy@iksectors.com and we will delete it.

7. Changes to this policy

We will post the date of the last update at the top of this page. Material changes will be announced via in-app notification or email.
